It was a fantastic win for them at St Mary’s, 1-2. Watford kept on running down the wing, trying to search for goals, but unfortunately none of them came.

After 14 minutes had passed, Joao Pedro had been putting pressure on Fraser Forster, Southampton’s goalie and with a poor pass from Mohammed Salisu, Cucho Hernandez snatched the ball, easily went round the goalie and slotted it home with his weak left foot at a tight angle. Within 15 minutes, Watford had scored. 0-1 to Watford, what sloppy play by the Saints.

20 minutes later, Dennis was running on the wing on the edge of the box. A few yards up Juraj Kucka was waiting for a pass and got one. The ball was whipped in and waiting at the back post, was Cucho Hernandez. A superb right footed volley from the star. 0-2 to Watford.

These two goals had put a spark into Southampton and it was just before half time that the Saints had a free kick in a dangerous position. The ball was delivered by James Ward – Prowse, flicked on by Che Adams and he assisted Mohamed Elyounoussi who half volleyed it. 1-2 Watford.

The second half was goalless however it was full of nail biting opportunities. Although, for Watford, some of their chances were on target and they were looking to extend their lead.
