WATFORD 0-0 HULL CITY

Watford manager Tom Cleverley decided to bring some players into the starting team, to replace Mattie Pollock, Tom Dele Bashiru and Giorgi Chakvetadze.

These were Ryan Andrews, Ismaël Koné and Francisco Sierralta.

In the first eight minutes of the game Wesley Hoedt fouled Fábio Carvalho in the penalty area, leading to a penalty.

The penalty from Ozan Tufan was placed to the bottom left of Austrian goalie Daniel Bachmann, but he managed to get to the ball before it hit the back of the net, and he held onto it for dear life.

Around the 15 minute mark, Watford had their first chance to score.

Jamal Lewis ran down the wing and crossed the ball into the box, and Yáser Asprilla catched it on his head and just missed to the right of the goal.

Soon after, Watford’s next attack saw Lewis and Asprilla make a play, weaving through the Hull defence. It was not long-lasting and one of the Hull defenders intercepted the attack and stopped the play.

Ten minutes before half-time, Sierralta tripped up Jaden Philogene and was booked. It gave away a free-kick that did not lead to much.

Five minutes from half-time, Hoedt received a yellow card for taking out Abdülkadir Ömür in a challenge to get the ball.

To start off the second half, Ryan Porteous rocketed the ball into the Rookery stand while taking a chance at goal, right after getting a yellow card for fouling Tufan.

In the 59th minute, Andrews had what was Watford’s next meaningful attack and missed narrowly with his shot.

In the 64th-minute, Andrews was taken off for Jermy Ngakia who returned after injury.

The second Watford substitution saw Emmanuel Dennis taken off for Mileta Rajović.

For the third substitution Watford made the decision to put on Ken Sema for Jamal Lewis to get some fresh legs on the pitch.

Tyler Morton took out Asprilla in a not so clean challenge giving Watford a free-kick

Rajović lined up his shot, he struck the ball to the bottom right of the goal, but it found the hands of Hull’s goalkeeper Ryan Allsop.

In the 82nd minute Vakoun Bayo was given a rest and Matheus Martins was brought on for Watford’s last substitution.

Carvalho took a free-kick for Hull which was placed in the top corner of the goal, but it was punched away by Bachmann.
